With advances in the field of digital image processing over the last decade, techniques for hiding digital image data, such as watermark, Steganography have gained wide popularity. The digital image watermarking techniques conceals a small amount of data in a digital image that can later be retrieved using some specific recovery algorithms to test the copyright of a piece of digital information while, Steganographic techniques are used to secretly hide a large amount of data some digital medium of innocuous appearance. In this article we are providing an updated review of these data concealment techniques.
Today, the network has important functions for transferring data quickly and accurately from the source to the destination. The data is not secure enough to transfer highly confidential. Information security has become one of the main challenges of the exchange of resources with the communication of data through a computer network. Cryptography and steganography are two methods for protecting data from intruders while being transferred over an open channel network. Cryptography is a method for encrypting data and steganography is the art and science of hiding the secret message in a cover image. In this paper we have proposed a less significant Hash encryption algorithm (H-LSB) with Affine algorithm to provide greater security to the data in a network environment. First we encrypt the data with the new algorithm of cryptography and incorporated it in the image. Eight bits of the secret message are divided into 3, 3, 2 and are embedded in the RGB pixel values of the cover image, respectively. A hash function is used to select the particular insertion position in LSB bits. This system allows a message sender to select the keys to encrypt the secret message before it is embedded in the image and a receiver uses the keys to decrypt the message. Receiver can be decrypted the encrypted message with the incorrect keys, but to a different form of the original message. This system has the ability to provide better security by transferring the secret message from one end to the other end in the network environment.
