The particular characteristics of Rapid Prototyping technologies, both in terms of limitations and opportunities, often require the reconfiguration of the product model to obtain the best compliance with the functionalities and benefits of the product. In this field of research, a knowledge-based tool called the Collaboration Framework Design Guide (DGLs-CF) was developed to support both designers who define the product consistently with manufacturing technologies and manufacturers define the building configuration in accordance with the requirements of the product. The current work focuses on improving the knowledge base of DGLs-CF and on updating the knowledge management of DGLs-CF using information collected on some RP technologies. The added value of this research is represented by an improvement in the Redesign / Reconfiguration Package, the final result of the adoption of DGLs-CF. This is a list of actions to be taken in the product model and in the process parameters to avoid the limitations of the technology and to exploit in the best of its opportunities.
