Digital tachometer with arduino plus speed control
The tachometer is a device used to measure the speed of an object in a given time interval. It is usually expressed in revolutions per minute or RPM. Pure mechanical tachometers, where the revolution is transferred to the tachometer through a mechanical coupling (cable or shaft), the speed is determined using a gear mechanism and displayed on a dial. With the advent of modern electronics, tachometers have changed a lot. This article is about a non-contact digital tachometer using arduino. The motor speed can also be controlled using the same circuit. The RPM and all other information are displayed on a 16 × 2 LCD. The circuit diagram of the digital tachometer with arduino is shown below.
