Modeling and analysis of queuing systems, with applications in networks, computers and services. Topics include discrete-time and discrete-state Markov chains, simple Markovian death-and-death processes, queue networks and product forms networks, single-server queues and multiple servers. The course will cover the results of the state of the art leading to research opportunities. Discrete-time simulation will also be developed in depth as a technique for evaluating the performance of computers, networks and services.
