As a public sector company, ONGC has a long and appreciated tradition of commendable initiatives, institutionalized programs and practices of Corporate Social Responsibility that have played a commendable role in the development of several underdeveloped regions of the country. The vision of sustainable growth drives both business decisions and Corporate Social Responsibility. Our CSR activities are essentially guided by a project-based approach, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Department of Public Enterprises and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs of the Government of India. The NGO CSR initiatives were marked by the tireless commitment of several key large-scale projects, as well as the start of several new projects identified in the 12 NGO focus areas,
1. Education, including vocational training courses,
2. Health care,
3. Entrepreneurship (self-help and livelihood generation)
4. Infrastructure support near operational areas of ONGC,
5. Protection of the environment, ecological conservation, promotion,
6. Protection of patrimonial sites, heritage monuments of UNESCO, etc.
7. Promotion of artisans, artisans, musicians, artists, etc. for the preservation of the patrimony, Art and Culture,
8. Women's Empowerment, Child Development, Gender-Sensitive Projects,
9. Water management, including groundwater recharge,
10. Initiatives for physical and mental challenges,
11. Sponsorship of seminars, conferences, workshops, etc.
12. Promotion of sports / sportsmen; support agencies for the promotion of sportsmen / athletes.
ONGC, in its search for oil and gas, rents remote rural places and is in constant interaction with disadvantaged local communities, which results in a better understanding of the community and, consequently, a greater sense of responsibility and accountability to the communities whose lives we touch. a well-defined set of objectives, clearly delineated beneficiaries, project strategy and activities characterize CSR projects undertaken to achieve discernible, long-term and sustainable benefits for the communities concerned.
