Cloud Computing
Introduction:
• Key to the definition of cloud computing is the “cloud” itself. Here , the cloud is a large group of interconnected computers.
• These computers can be personal computers or network servers; they can be public or private.
• The actual term “cloud” is borrowed from telephony in that telecommunications companies, who until 1990 offerd point to point data circuits,VPN
What Is Cloud Computing?
• DEFINITION:
Cloud computing is using the Internet to access someone else’s software running on someone else’s hardware in someone else’s data centre while paying only for what you use.
Cloud anatomy:
SaaS = Software as a Service (eg: Gmail, Google Calendar,...)
PaaS = Platform as a Service(eg: Google Apps)
IaaS = Infrastructure as a Service (eg: Amazon EC2)
BENEFITS OF CLOUD COMPUTING:
SCALABILITY
FLEXIBILITY
SECURITY
REDUCTION OF HARDWARE COSTS
Conclusion
Thus cloud computing provide a super-computing power .This cloud of computers extends beyond a single company or enterprise.
The applications and data served by the cloud are available to broad group of users, cross-enterprise and cross-platform.
