SMART QUILL
smart-quill-final.ppt (Size: 1.42 MB / Downloads: 51)
What is SMART QUILL?
It is a space age fountain pen-sized handheld computer that can "read" hand written words.
This pen writes directly on paper as with today's Cross Pad. But unlike that electronic pen-on-paper-on-active-clipboard, Smart Quill allows you to write directly on any surface or on no surface at all (by waving it in the air).
Digital Pen …?
What are the digital pens?
How Smart Quill differs
from digital pens..
Accelerometer
Working
Tiny accelerometer
Types of Accelerometer
2 axes-ADXL 202
3 axes-tronic +/-2g
Advantages
Quill does not need a screen to work
Provides intuitive user interface.
Enables handwriting recognition.
Enables signature verification.
Power Saver
Small Screen Size Requires less battery power.
Disadvantage
The pen is usual input device mixing input and output may lead to user confusion.
The small size of the screen means constant cursor control.
Conclusion
The future of SmartQuill ensures all computation power the user needs right inside the pen.
Reducing the size of handheld computers can only be taken so far before they become unusable
