ABSTRACT:
This project is based on the concept of automation. In an automated environment, machines are capable of doing the work and sometimes they are capable of taking their own decisions.
The robot being developed by us is having several degrees of freedom to perform the specified task that is usually sense parameter like temperature, smoke and light intencity can extinguish the fire on the feild. The same design can be used in other applications such as CNC machines, Automatic lath machines, drilling machines, and cranes etc. The robot is controlled from mobile phone remotely.
The Interface used is DTMF (Dual Tone Multi Frequency) signals and sensors with a to d converter.
INTRODUCTION:
An industrial robot is officially defined by as an automatically controlled, reprogrammable, multipurpose manipulator programmable in three or more axes. The field of robotics may be more practically defined as the study, design and use of robot systems for manufacturing.
The most commonly used robot configurations are articulated robots, SCARA robots and gantry robots (aka Cartesian Coordinate robots, or x-y-z robots). In the context of general robotics, most types of robots would fall into the category of robot arms (inherent in the use of the word manipulator in the above-mentioned ISO standard). Robots exhibit varying degrees of autonomy.
WORKING:
User makes the call to the mobile phone connected to robotic assembly. After receiving the call, when user presses the keys on his mobile phone a tone (DTMF) is generated which is being given to a DTMF converter at the robotic side. The DTMF tone will be having specific meaning depending on key pressed and the program written in the microcontroller at robots side.
The Mobile Based user interface is to easily maneuver the robot. Microcontroller at the robot side is interfaced to four DC motors through relays providing individual control for all the movements.
EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CHANGING THE LIVES
In today’s world, the knowledge of technology is essential not only for professionals working with it but also for non technical people. The emergence of embedded systems has touched every live on this planet. We can not imagine running our homes or businesses without the help of greatest innovations like cell phones, printers, fax machines, ATM machines, smart air conditioners, programmable washing machines, microwave ovens etc. Today we are surrounded by embedded systems from home to our offices the numbers are countless. An embedded system is defined as “A system which has a built in computer but the over all system is not designed for computational work”.
Few years back computers were big machines taking up a space as big as a room. It was the time of mechanical computers. The fast growth of the VLSI design gave us the circuits in the form of ICs (Integrated circuits) or Chips. With the help of VLSI technology millions of transistors can be fabricated in an area as small as the size of our nail. The greatest outcome of this technology was the microprocessor which acts as brain of our personal computers. Personal computers have been managing our lives for a long time.
