INTRODUCTION
SATRACK is the acronym for SATellite missile TRACKing system.
Satrack receives, rebroadcast, records &
tracks the satellite signals.
Provides the Post-Flight processing System.
Error Evaluation methodology for the guidance of Ballistic Missile.
EVOLUTION
SATRACK I : A technology project to develop and
demonstrate the instrumentation and processing system using the Trident I missile (1973–1983).
SATRACK II : The operational system designed to
meet system requirements for the Trident II missile
(1983–present).
SATRACK III : Current system upgrade and future
applications.
WHY SATRACK NEED?
Early guidance system were based on impact scoring techniques.
Lack of Accuracy in flight environment.
Precise error measurements and accuracy were the main contributions made by the SATRACK.
Lack of progressive hardware .
THE SHARC
The SHARC is unique in that it’s internal memory is capable of holding a large program as well a large amount of data.
CONCLUSION
SATRACK technology is a significant contributor to the successful Development and operational success of the trident missile. It provides a unique monitoring function that is critical to the maintenance of strategic weapon system. SATRACK will continue to support the Navy’s strategic weapon system operation.
