EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This project has been a great learning experience for me. At the same time it gave me enough scope to implement my analytical ability.
The first part of the project gives the overview of smart phone brands. In our study we have analyzed different brands of Smart phone available in Bangladeshi market. i.e, iPhone, Samsung ,Nokia, Symphony. Here we talk about the various types of factors affecting smart phones purchase and also give an overview of consumer buying behavior. All the topics have been covered in a very systematic way. The language has been kept simple so that even a layman could understand.
The Second part consists of research and their analysis, collected through a survey done on 30 people. The study was carried out in Dhaka city. The data collected have been well organized and presented. Hope the research findings and conclusions will be of use.
Introduction :
A smart phone is a mobile phone built on a mobile operating system, with more advanced computing capability and connectivity than a feature phone. The first smart phones combined the functions of a personal digital assistant (PDA) with a mobile phone. Later models added the functionality of portable media players, low-end compact digital cameras, pocket video cameras, and GPS navigation units to form one multi-use device. Many modern smart phones also include high-resolution touch screens and web browsers that display standard web pages as well as mobile-optimized sites. High-speed data access is provided by Wi-Fi and mobile broadband. In recent years, the rapid development of mobile apps markets and of mobile commerce have been drivers of smart phone adoption.
iPhone
The iPhone is a line of smart phones designed and marketed by Apple Inc. It runs Apple's iOS mobile operating system, known as the "iPhone OS" until June 2010, alongside the release of iOS 4. The first generation iPhone was released on June 29, 2007; and the most recent iPhone, the sixth-generation iPhone 5, on September 21, 2012. The user interface is built around the device's multi-touch screen, including a virtual keyboard. The iPhone has Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity .
An iPhone can shoot video (though this was not a standard feature until the iPhone 3GS), take photos, play music, send and receive email, browse the web, send texts, and receive visual voicemail. Other functions—video games, reference works, GPS navigation, social networking, etc.—can be enabled by downloading apps; as of 2012, the App Store offered more than 775,000 apps by Apple and third parties.

Conclusion
Riding on a wave of increasing growth, the mobile telephony in Bangladesh is expected to rise to a consumer base of over 40 million by 2013, making the telecommunication sector one of the most lucrative markets for global mobile phone manufacturers & cell phone providers. The mobile phone manufacturers need to be more specific about what features customer want in their handsets. The features such as
Synchronization with Computer
Battery Life (Talk Time & Standby)
Camera Resolution
Availability of Bluetooth
Screen Resolution
Price
According to the research customers consider the above mentioned features above the other features of the phone and hence the manufactures should give more stress on making these features better. In terms of choice, it has never been so good for the consumer. Last year saw several new models being launched. As per rough estimates, Samsung launched 15 models, Nokia launched 33 models; iPhone launched 2 models and Symphony 17 models. The remaining players launched close to 23 models.
