The wormhole attack is a challenging threat to the security of wireless sensor networks, resulting in the disruption of most routing protocols, as this attack can be triggered in different modes. In this paper we propose WRHT, a hybrid worm hole resistant technique, which can detect the presence of a wormhole attack in a more optimistic way than the previous techniques. WRHT is based on the concept of surveillance and Delphi schemes and ensures that the wormhole is not left untreated in the sensor network. WRHT makes use of the dual wormhole detection mechanism to calculate the likelihood factor probability of probability factor and probability of packet loss of the established path to find the probability value of presence of wormhole. The nodes on the way are given different classification and then the colours according to their behavior. The most striking feature of WRHT is its ability to defend itself against almost every category of wormhole attacks without relying on any additional hardware required such as global positioning system, synchronization information or synchronized clocks and traditional cryptographic schemes that demand high requirements computational. The experimental results clearly indicate that the proposed technique has a significant improvement over existing wormhole detection techniques.
