This manual has been developed as a guide for technical personnel related to the design and selection of components for small to medium submersible pumping stations, generally in the range of pump well sizes DN 1800 to DN 4600 will be connected to the Hunter Water Corporation drain system. The practices set forth in this document are Hunter Water Corporation, NSW. They are applicable to the design of new schemes and extensions or extensions of existing schemes. Pumping stations in a sewer system can have a substantial effect on the successful operation of other crosslinking components and many treatment elements in the system. Therefore, the designer must coordinate a design with the rest of the system. It is emphasized that this manual is intended to provide guidelines to the designer on how to address the issues presented. The engineering judgment must be applied at all times. This manual has been based on the Department of Public Works, NSW 1986 publication "Sewage Pumping Station Design Practice Manual" and much of the information presented here has been obtained from this PWD publication.
