DEFECT TRACKING SYSTEM

Abstract
Recent drawback in IT industry originated mainly from the bitterness of customers getting low quality, less reliable products and services contrary to their expectations. The struggle to choose the right defect management tool is very important to ensure that the selected tool will suit the business objectives. The simplified quality control (SQC) investigation of the issue to implement a defect management system; a tool used to understand and predict software product quality and software process efficiency. A defect tracking system, which is used to identify errors and bugs in software, is common these days. However, the main concern is when the project teams are scattered all around the world.

The system framework will integrate the capturing, reporting and defect finding activities, which include the following: track defects, software defects, enhancements, and change request; track and view defects across multiple projects - link any user to any project; track project bugs from anywhere with a browser; stay up to date on development efforts; searching capabilities; easy to analyze projects using reports and possibly statistics; available worldwide allows programmers and testers to focus on their job and not on the tool; automatically notify person responsible to solve the defect by e-mail, after being assigned by system’s administrator.
Literature Survey
Online help systems consist of numerous topics, hundreds, even thousands of them, each in their own little files. Managing all these files is difficult enough-sending them all Out for review and keeping track of all the reviewers’ comments about each topic is especially challenging. One solution might be to print out all the help topics and have reviewers mark their Comments on the hardcopy, but this is not the same experience as seeing all the topics together in context, in the application, interconnected with hypertext links.
Project Undertaken
1.2.1 Problem Statement
To incorporate element of Java language to create (DTS) Defect Tracking System to track the defect, separate out all the defect according to its priority, fix it , update all the status at each stage of project, give the final report to the user. Using this DTS we can resolve all difficulty of customer according to its need and fulfill its satisfaction.
1.2.2 Scope Definition
For many years most of the others never bothered with bug tracking at all, and instead simply relied on shared lists and email to monitor the status of defects. This procedure is error-prone and tends to cause those bugs judged least significant by developers to be dropped or ignored.
Defect Tracking System is an ideal solution to track the bugs of a product, solution or an application. Defect Tracking System allows individual or groups of developers to keep track of outstanding bugs in their product effectively. This can also be called as Bug Tracking System. The Defect Tracking System can dramatically increase the productivity and accountability of individual employees by providing a documented workflow and positive feedback for good performance
1.3 Objective of the Project
We are aiming to achieve the main functionalities of the project, meeting the fundamental core requirements set out at the start of the system. Wish to feel our customer facing site is well designed, both in terms of artistic layout and the coded structure.
