Financing – each costing above INR 16,000 crores
Essential to meet the target of ‘Power for all’
Imperative to establish sound project management principles
specific transmission projects to be set up before the commissioning of the plant
Govt. has come out with a revised APDRP (Accelerated Power Development and Reform Program) - provide support and financial incentives for reduction
Conclusion :
Overdependence on thermal power
Compared to other countries nuclear and NCES sources – very less
Gaps – Around 51.5% of the targets could be met in 10th plan
T&D losses very high
Shortages of equipments & environmental issues
In other countries – more focus on NCES , we should follow the same
