The proposed approach provides the use of the rotating magnetic field. In this framework, Eddy Current Techniques (ECTs) have considerably increased their importance for their ability to detect magnetic field variations caused by the presence of material alterations. While investigations in this field propose several solutions for the detection of defects (surface and subsurface), a still open problem refers to the difficult detection of defects due to the geometric complexity of the structure and the particular orientations of the crack. In particular, this contribution proposes an approach based on the Finite Element (Finite Element Method, FEM) for railroad modeling, in order to obtain a rapid and accurate assessment of its integrity.
