REMOTETRIPSOLENOIDVALVE
Location :
RTS’sare installed in the control oil line before the Main Trip valve
Function:
RTS is to de-pressurized the Trip oil circuit in the shortest possible time, thereby bringing the main trip valves into trip position
Operation
In normal de-energized condition, control oil is free to flow through these valves to Main Trip Valves
Solenoids gets energized, whenever any electrical trip command is initiated or turbine is tripped manually from Control room
MAINTRIPVALVELocation :
MTV’s are installed in the control oil line before the speeder gearFunction Main trip valves is to open the Trip & Auxiliary Oil circuits into drain in the event of abnormal condition, thereby closing the HP / IP valves and shutting of admission of steam to the turbine. All the tripping take place through these valvesOperation
In starting the unit, pilot valves (Spool) are lifted up by theAuxiliary Start up oil against the force of the spring. Control oil from Remote Trip solenoids is then free to pass through these valves. In this way pressure is build up in the trip oil circuit and Auxiliary Trip oil circuit
Operation :
The pressure in the Auxiliary Trip oil circuit keeps the pilot valves in open position while the Auxiliary Start up oil drains through the starting device
Whenever Control oil pressure drops (due to RTS de-energized) or if any hydraulic protective device is actuated ( Aux. Trip oil circuit is de-pressurized), thus the pilot valves moves downwards due to spring force on their own weight
This connects the Trip oil and Aux. Trip oil circuit to the drain and shutting of the Control oil to the turbine valves, which causes Main and Reheat Stop / Control valves to close
