The number of different types of devices on the home network is expanding rapidly. While this explosion of innovation has new devices appealing to consumers, there are challenges that ensure compatibility between these devices and provide a user interface that supports consumers who manage their digital content across multiple devices. The Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) has specified an architecture that allows interoperability between different devices and allows the user to enjoy the desired content across multiple devices. This eliminates the user's burden of fetching each device individually. The development of a prototype that incorporates these ideas has begun, using a well-known set of Jena semantic web tools.
