The Maharashtra Housing and Areas Development Authority is an organization owned by the Government of Maharashtra, established in 1977. Since then it has been mainly engaged in the construction and sale of housing to low- and middle-income groups in urban and semi-urban areas -Bedrooms. In Mumbai, it has built about 30,000 homes. Recently MHADA has come up with a low-cost housing scheme offering 2,593 apartments in Mumbai and Mira Road in its May 2012 lottery scheme.
