Robot is a reprogrammable, multifunctional device that is primarily designed to do the job as human, such as pick and place, loading and unloading, surveillance, health, industrial, aerospace application. Robots can perform dangerous and precise jobs to increase productivity, since they can work 24 hours without rest. This article deals with the design and control of an automotive type robot that can be moved in the desired direction and captures images and videos of the required location. An Android application has been developed with the inventor of the MIT application and a bluetooth communication is made with the robot interfaces with the microcontroller to control its speed and direction. The objective of this work is to design and control the movement of the robot using the bluetooth device of an Android phone.
Android smartphones are undoubtedly the most popular gadgets these days. You will find several applications on the Internet that exploit hardware built into these mobile phones, such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, to control other devices. Here is a robot controlled by phone that can be controlled through an application on your mobile. The control commands are sent via Bluetooth and the robot has features such as:
1. It can be controlled from Android smartphones by touch or voice commands
2. The speed of the robot can also be controlled
3. The robot will detect and inform the phone of its distance from the nearest obstacle
4. It will also send information about the direction in which it is moving.
Fig. 1 shows the prototype of the robot author and Fig. 2 shows the application running on an Android phone to control the robot.
