Introduction
Everyday, We visit website after website, viewing information, playing games, and sometimes downloading software.
We need web servers, web browser and web page.
Therefore we need to learn how web server and web browser work together to send a web page to user
Web Browser
Software Program that interpret the coding language of World Wide Web(Hyper-Text Markup Language) in graphic form
Retrieves, presents, and traverse information resources on the World Wide Web
Used to access information provide by web in private networks
Web Page
A document or information resource on the World Wide Web and can be access through web browser and viewed on monitor or mobile device.
This information is usually in HTML format, and may provide navigation to other pages via hyperlinks.
When web pages are stored in a common directory of a web server, they become a website.
Example of Website
How they work together?
When a web browser talks to a web server, it uses something called a universal remote identifier (URI).
The URI has multiple components but starts by telling the server the protocol that it wants to use.
When a user enters a URI into the browser, the web browser looks at the prefix before the colon and determines what protocol to use.
It then looks at the text after the colon to figure out what server to communicate with.
If the user requests a web page, the web server fulfils the request and sends the requested file or web page to the browser.
The http protocol specifies that the format for a request is
- http://server_name:port/directory/file.
The server can either be a computer name that gets resolved to an IP address or an IP address.
Conclusion
In summary, a web browser opens a connection to a web server based on the URI entered by the user.
The URI specifies the protocol to use, typically http for web servers.
The last entry in the URI includes the directory and file names that the browser is looking for.
