INTRODUCTION
The batteries in an iphone or any other portable electronic devices takes up huge amount of space.
It contributes to a large part of the devices weight.
The paper battery removes these difficulties related to conventional batteries.
WHAT IS PAPER BATTERY
This battery looks like a sheet of paper and can be bend and twisted.
It can be trimmed with scissors or can be molded into any needed shape.
All the components in the conventional lithium batteries can be incorporated into a light weight flexible sheet of paper.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF ELECTROLYTE
Naturally occurring electrolytes such as human sweat, blood and urine can be used to activate them.
As an example: researches in Singapore have developed a paper battery that is powered by urine.
The battery is composed of paper, soaked in copper chloride, sandwiched between layers of magnesium and copper.
KEY FEATURES OF THE NEWLY DEVELOPED BATTERY
It has thin structure, which will enable it to be embedded in to objects such as smart cards and intelligent paper.
It has a bendable structure.
It uses a flexible plastic as the cathode material.
It has ultra-fast charging speed of less than 30 seconds.
