BHARAT STARCH INDUSTRIES
Bharat Starch Industries is part of BM Thapar group of companies having plants in Yamuna nagar (Haryana) and Pondicherry. Another plant is Clay plant in the name of EICL at Trivandrum. All the three plants are located in India. Other group companies include Greaves Cotton etc. BSI enjoys leadership position in Premium segment in modified starches in paper industryinIndia.
The company has its own DSIR recognized R& D centre and is ISO 9001: 2000 awarded co.

BSI is Starch manufacturing Company in India and has created benchmarks in Quality and adherence to deadlines. Over the years it has expanded its capacities and diversified its product mix to emerge as the market leader. Our position has been further strengthened by our strong R & D capabilities. Our manufacturing plant is located in Radaur Road Yamuna Nagar, Haryana.
BSI has its own research and development centre with complete modern facilities and also a well equipped laboratory. It has a small library also, in which books are available for consolation. Its products are of international standard. The production unit of the company has 4 main plants with grinding capacities of 200 megatons maize per day.
BSI offers a wide range of starch products for various Industries viz. paper, Pharmaceuticals, Beverages, Food, Dairy, Confectionery, Textile, etc. and also contributing in the manufacturing of dextrose, glucose and refined corn oil.
STORAGE
In any industry there is raw material storage section always. In the Bharat Starch Industry there is maize seeds store in bulk quantity in the storage plant. In storage plant are made for to store the seeds long time and take care of them from changing the sessions also. But, these are affected from moisture and insects. Chemical method used to save from the insects.
There are about 200 tone used every day. There are 10 storage sections in the industry. And each storage section about 10000 tone maize seeds are can be stored.
Maize is widely cultivated member of the grass family gramineae. Hybrid maize is more suitable for the manufacture of the maize starch. Nature kernels are composed of endosperm 82%, germ 12%, per cap or hull 5.2% and tip cap 0.8%. The tip cap is the point of kernel attachment to cob to from the ERAS that are HARVESTED. In the separation process the cap and hull become the part of the fiber.
Germ is the site of EMBRYONIC structure that GEMINATES to initiate plant growth. It is also storage organ for corn air.
Starch granules embedded in a protein matrix make up the primary constituent of endosperm structure.
The endosperm, the main energy , reserve, makes up about 90% starch and 7% gluten(protein) with the remainder consisting of small amount of oil minerals and some trace constitution. The embryo contains high energy oil. Some portions of endosperm are hard and grassy while others are more porous. The letters are easy to separate. A major objective of the wet-miffing is to separate and purify granules located in horny endosperm. Wet-milling is design to insure a significantly pure starch. Fraction for industrial and for food uses. In the steep tanks maize kernels are softened to optimize miffing and component separation.
Kernels are held in dilute H2SO4 solution for 30-40 hrs at 48-52 degree Celsius. A typical counter current steep system is an array of 8-12 tanks in which fresh acid is added to kernels ready for miffing. Steep water is pumped for water from tanks to tanks and exit after contacting fresh corn. After steeping kernels are macerates in an attrition mill. That freezes the germ for separation by centrifugal action. Isolated starch is washed to remove residue.
Washing System
The company is engaged in the manufacturing Maize Washing System in the market. Our hydrocyclone type starch washing system removes the soluble and insoluble remains of starch slurry that comes out of primary separator. It is high on demand in various food processing units related to starch and its separations. It is accessible with 9 or even more stages with hundred of manifolded hydro cyclone in each stage of the separations. They are designed as per the latest and international norms and standards. Moreover, we are reckoned as one of the most famous multistage starch washing system manufacturer in the country.
FILLING SECTION
In filling section there are filling machines are used for remove the dry impurities. The function of these machines to extract the impurities from the maize seeds by fibro¬ shifting process.
In this machine wire mesh is used which vibrates by this impurity settle down and clean seeds obtained.
MAIZE CLEANING OF GRAIN
Shelled grain is received in bulk at the filling plants. It is prepared for milling by screening to the remove all large and small pieces of cob, chaff, sand, and other undesirable foreign material. Dust and light chaff are removed by aspiration. Cleaning the corn is an important first step in the filling section process because the preseabnce of small pieces of broken kernels can alter of normal flow of steep water through the grain mass, resulting in non uniform steeping. Further more, starch granules are washed in to the steep water and are gelatinized during evaporation , resulting in viscous steep water.
STEEPING
Prior to filling section the corn must be softened by steeping process developed specifically to produce optimal milling and separation of corned components. Steeping is more than simple water soaking of corn. It involves maintaining the correct balance of water flow, temp, sulfur dioxide.
SEED CLEANER
Germs are extracted from maize seeds in Milling Section. Before, extracting oil in the germs is wet. So, these are dry and clean in a machine. There are dried by hot steam tubes. The germ seeds cleaning machine are given below:
