GSM VERSUS CDMA
GSM :
The digital nature of GSM allows data, both synchronous and asynchronous data, to be transported as a bearer service to or from an ISDN terminal. The data rates supported by GSM are 300 bps, 600 bps, 1200 bps, 2400 bps, and 9600 bps.
CDMA :
Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) is a digital air interface standard, claiming eight to fifteen times the capacity of traditional analog cellular systems. It employs a commercial adaptation of a military spread-spectrum technology. Based on spread spectrum theory, it gives essentially the same services and qualities as wire line service.

Idea Cellular's antecedents date back to 1995, when the Aditya Birla Group and AT&T (through Birla AT&T Communications – Maharashtra & Gujarat circle) and the Tata Group (through Tata Cellular - Andhra Pradesh circle) set up cellular networks. In 2003, the company achieved the largest financial closure in Indian . Telecom for all its circle. In 2004, the company entered into definitive agreement to acquire Escotel Mobile Communications (existing operator in Haryana, Kerala and UP(W)) and Escorts Telecommunications (cellular licensee holder for UP(E), Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan).
