Low Voltage Products
The Low Voltage Products division manufactures low-voltage circuit breakers, switches, control products, wiring accessories, enclosures and cable systems to protect people, installations and electronic equipment from electrical overload. The division further makes KNX systems that integrate and automate a building's electrical installations, ventilation systems, and security and data communication networks.
Process Automation
The main focus of this ABB business is to provide customers with products and solutions for instrumentation, automation and optimization of industrial processes. The industries served include oil and gas, power, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, pulp and paper, metals and minerals, marine and turbocharging. Foundation fieldbus Solutions from ABB
The integration of FOUNDATION fieldbus into IndustrialIT takes full advantage of the advanced features offered by the protocol.
These include distribution of control into the field, redundant strategies and Asset Optimization applications including predictive maintenance.
H1 and HSE
The ABB FOUNDATION fieldbus solution utilizes High-Speed Ethernet via the ABB Linking Device connecting H1 segments to the control system in either single or redundant configuration.
Benefits of using Linking Devices
The benefits of this approach are that the Linking Devices can be distributed about the plant and use High-Speed Ethernet as the network backbone. This saves on the cabling expense of running H1 segments to the control room.
System integrity
The use of the FOUNDATION fieldbus back-up LAS (Link Active Scheduler) function in field devices and redundancy at the high-speed (HSE) bus and supervisory device offers a high degree of system integrity.
Integration of field devices
Field devices are integrated by importing the standard DD and CF files as provided by devices that have the Fieldbus FOUNDATION certification tick mark .
