INTRODUCTION
There are various recent advances takes place in conventional IC engine. Today the IC engines we are using in our vehicles are totally different from conventional one.
These advances includes 6 stroke engines, ultrasonic fuel automizer , exhaust gas recirculation , catalytic converter , common rail injection system and modifications in engine due to used of alternative fuel, etc.
WORKING OF SIX STROKE ENGINE
INTAKE / SUCTION STROKE:
As Piston moves from T.D.C. to B.D.C.
Vacuum is created inside the cylinder.
FIRST COMPRESSION STROKE:
In this stroke valves remains close.
Piston moves from B.D.C toT.D.C.
Com. ratio is 12-18 pressure 35-40 Kgf/cm2 temp. is 600-700c
FIRST COMBUSTION STROKE:
Fuel in the fine form is injected in the combustion chember.
Piston moves downwards and pressure remains constant.
Automizer
ADVANTAGES
1 Hydrocarbon tends to decrease as droplet size is decrease.
2 Carbon dioxide emission get reduces.
3 Fuel comsumption rate decreased and mean effective pressure
reduces as mean droplet size decreased.
4 Improve startability of engine at low tempature.
EGR-EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION
EGR is considered a `metered intake leak' and was developed to reduce the combustion temperatures to below 2,500 degrees.
Smaller effective displacement means less fire, and less heat and thus lower temperatures, thereby controlling NOx emissions.
