SOFTWARE SIMULATION
1. The first step is conventional one. It is to provide the setup with the power supply. Once the power supply has been provided the setup will be ready to be used for alcohol detection. A status “Alcohol Detector will be shown on the LCD”
2. Now the setup is used to detect the presence or absence of alcohol. The sensor is used to accept the input. Suppose it is to be detected that whether a person is has consumed alcohol or not. To test, the person is instructed to breathe out deeply on the sensor. Meanwhile the LCD will display the status “Searching for Alcohol.”
3. The sensor works on the basis of gas concentration. The sensor resistance decreases with an increase of gas concentration based on a logarithmic function. Suppose the person has not consumed alcohol, in this case there is no change in the concentration of air (surrounding gas). So there is no change in resistance. It will be a comparator based action. A status “Alcohol Not Detected” will be shown. Else if the person has consumed alcohol, there will be a change in the concentration of gas, corresponding to it the resistance of sensor decreases. The Buzzer will blow up to mark the presence of alcohol. The microcontroller will receive a low input and corresponding to it, a prestored instruction is fed to LCD. A status “Alcohol Detected” will be displayed on LCD.
