Analysis of network management of remote network elements
Magesh Parthasarathy
ABSTRACT
This document discusses the analysis of network
management of remote network elements over TCP/IP
network. The communication over TCP/IP network is
limited by different factors like the available bandwidth,
network congestion, latency, the processing speed at the
server, the number of simultaneous connections the server
can handle, the impacts of security, the overhead due to
preventive mechanism of security, the MTU of the
intermediate networks, and the complexity of the
management protocol being used.
1 INTRODUCTION.
There are different ways to manage network elements
remotely. All are based on client-server software model.
There are standard protocols like SNMP, CMIP for
network management. There are also properitory
management software that can be developed based on TCP
or UDP based between the agent and management station.
This document discusses the different issues that are faced
in each type of management protocol during the
communication over TCP/IP networks.
