Abstracts: Automation is the use of machines, control systems and information technologies to optimize productivity in the production of goods and delivery of services. Automation can be effectively used to reduce the lead time in vehicle assembly. Assembly line involves various steps to build a machine. Using different algorithms we can optimize the manufacturing process and increase productivity. A lead time is the latency (delay) between the initiation and execution of a process. For example, the lead time between the placement of an order and delivery of a new car from a manufacturer may be anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months. In industry, lead time reduction is an important part of lean manufacturing. In today’s competitive business world, companies require small lead times, low costs and high customer service levels to survive. Because of this, companies have become more customer focused. The result is that companies have been putting in significant effort to reduce their lead times.
