ABSTRACT:
A bio-fuel is a fuel that is produced through contemporary biological processes. If we use bio-fuels instead of fossil fuels the pollution can be controlled. Some of the bio-fuels are bio-ethanol, biodiesel, purified biogas, methanol, etc. Some of the methods of producing biodiesel are Supercritical process, Ultrasonic reactor method, Lipase-catalyzed method, etc. In future biodiesel plays a major role as an alternative fuel. While using Biodiesel carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen and Hydrocarbons that comes out from the engine can be reduced. Biodiesel are renewable and pollution free. Biodiesel can be efficiently produced from algae. The algae used in biodiesel production are usually aquatic unicellular green algae. . The oil that is produced from the algae is more feasible and scalable. The waste that coming from the algae after extraction process is used as feed for the livestock. Bio-fuels are renewable, low cost, pollution free, reduce green house gases, etc. Biodiesel refers to a vegetable oil - or animal fat-based diesel fuel consisting of long-chain alkyl (methyl, ethyl, or propyl) esters. Instead of these methods we can use algae as a major source of producing Biodiesel. When compared with other methods this method is more convenient for producing the biodiesel. This paper deals with Biodiesel from algae.
