My department :
I worked in the company as a trainee in SQA department and I learn many things in the company.
1) Description of SQA ( Supplier Quality Assurance) Dept.
Customer expectation are changing day by day and demand of ‘defect free product’ is increasing. Our vehicle quality can not be better than the quality of inputs that we give. This approach has given birth to ‘Supplier Quality Assurance(SQA)’ under Plant Quality. SQA is structured so that quality of supplied items shall be ensured through supplier audits including System Audits, Product & Process Audits and Concern based Audits at Supplier Sites
1.1. Definition:
SQA is a sector wide function formed to inmprove supplier performance as well as to sustain the same through concern resolution process and periodic reviews such as Vendor Quality Index (VQI) monitoring and audits.
1.2. Goals:
1. To improve supplier quality performance (VQI)
2. To improve supplier quality response time
3. To improve suppliers’ process capabilities by improving PIPC
4. To implement effective concern resolution process through preventive
controls such as Poka Yoke
5. To initiate firewalls for filtering the non-conformities at suppliers’ end
6. To asses s suppliers’ processes effectiveness through periodic audits
1.3. Purpose:
The purpose of SQA is to reach ‘zero defect’ on all supplier quality issues faced internally on lines and end customer so as to make a zero defect vehicle; sustaining the quality of handed over parts and improving the quality of the existing parts.
2) SCAP (Supplier Corrective Action Plan):
Whenever a line concern (defect, non-conformity) is observed, the supplier shall be communicated the same by a mail or phone call. The supplier is requested to come to M&M plant and look into the concern. The supplier shall be issued a supplier corrective action plan which he has to duly return after filling it.The problem shall be first understood by the SQA engineer and then the problem statement shall be provided by him. The supplier shall analyze the problem and give a proper reason for the occurrence of the defect or nonconformity. Also the supplier shall mention corrective actions planned by him for the related concern. The supplier shall also mention any changes done in processes, quality documents due to the implementation of action plan.
1- The SCAP shall be issued as soon as a concern is reported and
understood by SQA engineer.
2-The supplier shall fill in the SCAP and return it as soon as possible.
3-For the same supplier, different SCAPs shall be issued for concerns
in different parts, if any.
4-Proper record of the SCAPs shall be present with both SQA and the
supplier because SCAPs shall be reviewed by SQA engineers at
pre-defined frequency.
