Introduction
This chapter focuses more on the motivation behind the problem. It starts by giving description about overview of Online shopping System and the current status, and the problems faced by the society due to current shopping system.
Problem Description
Currently most of the society they still use manual system of shopping by walking to the shopping store and purchase goods, but the customer can’t have easy access to the kind of products sold somewhere far from his/her locality. For example someone living in Kigoma wants to purchase something sold in Dar-es-salaam, has to travel to Dar-es-salaam, something which is very costly and timewasting. However there exist few local online shopping systems in Tanzania, but the problem is that, in the current system the owner of the business does not effectively realize the needs of the customers by providing products that suit their needs. This is due lack of capability to track the customer behaviors and the products that is mostly preferred by the customers visiting the site. They don’t track the behaviors of the customer when they login to the system. To have this information is crucial to the owner for planning new business strategies.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
To develop the an online shopping system that will have the capability to keep track of the customer preferences when visiting the shopping site which will provide new and easy shopping experience of different items such as electronics, wearing, foods, etcetera to the customers
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
i. To design and implement the shopping system that can identify the potential customers visiting the shopping sites
ii. To design and develop online shopping system that can track customer behaviors when visiting the sites
iii. To create an online store that can sent SMS notification to the registered customers about the new product in the store and different offers offered by vendors to the customers.
iv. To design and develop the shopping system that can send SMS notification about their order status
CHAPTER SUMMARY
The chapter has explained the importance of having online shopping system in our selling organization and that is capable of tracking customers and identifying potential customers in order to provide easy and efficient shopping experience to the customers. This will guarantee profit to the organization because it will lead to increase of sells
