I am doing my training in programming of PLC based CNC milling machines. The name of the machines is VMC 650 (vertical machining center) and HMC 500 (horizontal machining center). These machines are manufactured by the company TAL. Both are used for machining, tapping and drilling of automobile parts. The machines which are being used use neumatic system to control the tools. The tool is controlled by a Simens Sinumeric 810D sl Controller and is programmed with a machine code system that enables it to be operated with minimal supervision and with a great deal of repeatability. For the machining of a particular job a program in a particular format is entered into the memory of the controller with the help of the programming keys on the control panel. The different tools are selected by the machine and moved in a particular manner for the precise machining according to the instructions given in the program. “G codes” are used for the machine programming, according to the given drawing and part to be machined. These machines works on 240 volts three phase ac supply.
