Abstracts: In this dissertation, study and analysis of a single cylinder I.C engine is carried out for its performance when surface of the cylinder head and piston crown are copper coated. Copper element helps in promoting the pre-flame reaction. The basic idea of using copper as catalytic material is to improve the pre-flame reaction so that we can achieve lean burn combustion. From the emission point of view, the gradual leaning of the operating mixture can affect the reduction in emission level and brake thermal efficiency is improved compared to standard engine, operating at same condition. By modifying the engine with copper coating, it gives best performance in terms of thermal efficiency and also helps in reducing the exhaust gas emission level.
