ABSTRACT
This project is aimed at developing a dynamic image resizing and resampling module for FloorPlanVirtualTour.com. This module will allow FloorPlanVirtualTour.com end users to upload images from their individual computers over internet. The module will then dynamically resize image reducing the size from 4 MB to about 80 KB. The challenge is to achieve this image size reduction without loosing quality. The end users can view, update and delete the resized images in their individual accounts.
FloorPlanVirtualTour.com caters to needs of national and international Real Estate websites such as MagicBricks.com and Realtor.com. They allow home sellers to create easy to understand virtual tours. Most important part of a virtual tour is images of the home and its interiors.
Currently when a seller uploads images of huge size, FPVT has to reduce the size manually to reduce load on web streaming server as well as improve end user experience. This manual resizing takes up to 2 hours per tour. Our module will do away with the manual resizing resulting in significant cost benefit to FloorPlanVirtualTour.com.
This module has a scope of being used in many other applications. Today a lot of social networking sites use image upload option. The code created for this module can be reused with any service that needs image uploading.
