Database Management System in E-Governance: in perspective of India
Abstract:
E-government is a generic term for web-based services from agencies of local, state and federal governments. The government is the biggest producer of information and efficient management of the vast amount of data available within the government departments is of utmost importance. In order to meet government data needs efficiently and effectively, the databases need to be designed conforming to standard database design principles. I have analyzed many projects of NIC as like IFMS (Integrated Finance Management System – www.ifms.raj.nic.in), DCIS, PIS, Egram(www.esugam.raj.nic.in), Esugam(Public Grievance www.esugam.raj.nic.in), Land Record Computerization (All projects in analyzed Ganganagar, Rajasthan) etc. implemented in Rajasthan. The purpose of that paper is to discuss what DBMS topics deserve research attention in the future for government organizations. The study reveals the extent of adherence to the most basic parameters while designing the database keeping in view the long term sustainability of e-government applications.
