Q.1. With the help of a neat and clean diagram explain the working, construction and applications of Toolmaker’s Microscope.
Q. 2. Distinguish between the following terms and give appropriate example in each case:
I. Range and Span
II. Error and Accuracy
III. Hysteresis and Dead Zone
IV. Threshold and Resolution
V. Drift and Reproducibility
Q.3. Answer both parts
a) Discuss the transfer from line standard to end standard.
b) A calibrated metre end bar has an actual length of 600.008 mm. It is to be used in calibration of three bars, A, B and C each having a basic length of 200 mm. When compared with the metre bar LA + LB + LC was found shorter by 0.005 mm. In comparing A with B it was found that A was 0.0004 mm longer than B and in comparing B with C it was found that B is 0.0005 mm longer than C. Find the actual length of A, B and C.
Q.4. What is calibration? Explain in detail the various methods of calibration of instruments.
Q.5. Explain briefly the various types of angle measuring instruments.
Q.6. Explain the types of micrometer used for measuring pitch and root diameter. Explain its working and also explain its various types.
