Design of Remote Intelligent Home System Based on ZigBee and GPRS technology

Abstract
In this paper, based on ZigBee technology and GPRS a
wireless remote and detecting system for smart home is
developed which realized the detecting of the home equipment
and the state of home environment. The system consists of the
host control centre and several sub function modules and
software. The host control system includes MC39i module,
CC2430 module and STC12C5410 MCU control center. The
several sub function modules consists of the data acquisition
module and CC2430 modules.
INTRODUCTION
With the progress of science and technology, the
unprecedented advances taking place in the field of
communication technologies such as GSM, Wi-Fi, and
Bluetooth and so on. The application of the wireless
communication technologies are very extensive and the smart
home is one of those important application area.[1] With
modern electronic science and technology development and the
improvement of people's living standard, people living
environment of increasingly high demand. Previously only the
pursuit of living space and luxury decoration, now more to the
pursuit of security, comfortable room, convenient and
intelligent, so intelligent home furnishing concept has been
gradually understand and accept.[5]
The function of the system
1) The system send the query set indoor temperature,
humidity and so on of indoor safety information message to the
master control center through the GPRS module , Then the
master control center converts the received numeric messages
to mobile phone users through CC2430 module in the form of
sending text messages.[2][6]
2) The system queries the currently home state by sending
message as “temperature?" “Humidity?".The control center
accords the obtained data to take the corresponding operation.
3) The system can alarm when someone broke into the
room and then send the abnormal information to the user
through the MCU external interruption.
HARDWARE DESIGN OF THE SYSTEM
MC39i module with AT commands
The system uses the GSM / GPRS module MC39i which is
produced by Siemens Company, MC39i module is designed for
GSM communication module business, can provide GPRS
service. It is compatible with GSMphase2/2, support for dualband
(GSM900, 1800), ETSI compliant GSM0707 and
GSM0705, which includes the GSM baseband processor,
power supply ASIC, RF, and Flash memory and other parts.
With this module we can implement SMS and GPRS services,
to complete long-distance communication system needs.
Interface module ZIF40 connected with the main control center,
which MC39i module is connected with a user's system
through serial port, and does not need Level conversion. AT
command are major mobile phone manufacturers who work
together for GPRS to develop a set of instructions, including
the control of SMS.
SOFTWARE DESIGN OF THE SYSTEM
The system software includes the master and slave. The
function of the master includes data processing and
transmission. The main function of the slave is data collection
and then sending the data to the host control centre and
controlling the household appliance according to commands
sending from the host control centre. The master’s host CPU is
STC12C5410 and the slave’s host CPU is ZigBee chips. The
master and slave flow chart is shown in Figure 5 and Figure 6.
