RFID BASED STUDENT.docx (Size: 165.17 KB / Downloads: 240)
Introduction
Nowadays, due to the easy availability of almost all information on the internet these days, students are less motivated to attend the lecture. This project is to simplify attendance recorder system by using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. RFID based Parent SMS Alert and Attendance System is a web based application that will be developed to overcome this problem. With the RFID kit, the system will be developed by using .NET technology and database support. The systems also have integrated with the RFID Database Handling System for a fully functional system. The information from RFID Database handling System will be used for attendance and for SMS Alert also.
The RFID based Parent SMS Alert and Attendance System also interacts with parents using SMS system. Therefore, the system functionality is not only records the student attendance, but also sends alert SMS to their parents.
Choice of the Topic with Reasoning
Objective of Project
The objectives of this project are to simplify the attendance recorder system and alert the parent by SMS system. The system is capable to display the student attendance status. The system will provide SMS alerts to parents when the respective student will enter or exit from school.
Scope of Project
This proposed system extract the useful information such as student entering time and student ID card with a name from the RFID tag. Then using such information the software system automatically updates the student’s attendance. Secondly, the system sends alert SMS to respective student’s parent that the student is entered in school.
Problem Statement
Nowadays, due to fast life style parents don’t have time to drop their children at school, so mostly the small children also travel by bus or auto. As the small children go by public transport, parent doesn’t know whether child reaches at school or not. To overcome such problem and to minimize parents’ tension, our system will alert parent using SMS.
Taking attendance of a number of students manually is time consuming, so we are going to generate automatic attendance system using RFID tags. Each student will have a unique RFID tag; student will be identified using this tag.
EPC Tags:
EPC refers to "electronic product code," an emerging specification for RFID tags, readers and business applications first developed at the Auto-ID Centre at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. This proposed work will provide significant intellectual leadership toward the use and application of RFID technology. EPC represents a specific approach to item identification, including an emerging standard for the tags themselves, including both the data content of the tag and open wireless communication protocols.
RF Transceiver:
The RF transceiver is the source of the RF energy used to activate and power the passive RFID tags. The RF transceiver may be enclosed in the same cabinet as the reader or it may be a separate piece of equipment. When provided as a separate piece of equipment, the transceiver is commonly referred to as an RF module. The RF transceiver controls and modulates the radio frequencies that the antenna transmits and receives. The transceiver filters and amplifies the backscatter signal from a passive RFID tag.
The Advantages of RFID Over Bar Coding
1. No "line of sight" requirements: Bar code reads can sometimes be limited or problematic due to the need to have a direct "line of sight" between a scanner and a bar code. RFID tags can be read through the materials without line of sight.
2. More automated reading: RFID tags can be read automatically when a tagged product comes past or near a reader, reducing the labor required to scan a product and allowing more proactive, real-time tracking.
3. Improved read rates: RFID tags ultimately offer the promise of higher read rates than bar codes, especially in high-speed operations such as carton sortation.
4. Greater data capacity: RFID tags can be easily encoded with item details such as id_no and name, class, etc.
Methodology
This proposed work describes in detail the methodologies that will be - - implementing in this project. Next, the RFID study kit will be studied. Then the web developer server suite environment consists of application and database server technology is installed. This server suite is used for development, testing, debugging and troubleshooting the system. The next phase will design the database for five different modules of the system. Finally the system will be connected to the RFID Database handling System.
