Abstracts: An “ELECTRICITY BILL AND METER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (EBMMS)” is a network of all electricity meters situated at any place in the city. They are connected to software system of the PGVCL office. Current meter and bill collection system In the current system the bill is made manually door to door. The closed home’s approx bill is made. Someone can cheat with meter and PGVCL would not know it until a person don’t go and check it. Data regarding meters and connections are in traditional file system. Physical geometry of the EBMMS It is a bill meter + management software. The bill meter stores the readings and shows the reading in a small screen. The meter is made-up of two boxes. The outer box is available to be touched by customers. The inter box is touch sensing. The customer doesn’t need to touch it. If he/she touches it then the screen will show the message. The information regarding unit-readings and bill would be sent to the computer system of the PGVCL and the electricity bill can be generated at the PGVCL office. And the bill can be further posted or couriered to the customer. If someone touches the inner box of the meter then the meter will send the information to the computer system and the PGVCL would be informed immediately so that further actions can be taken. The meter is fully automated and digital. It counts the units at the 1stdate of the bill generation month. We can use wireless or wired topology for the network of the meters to computer system. The computer system stores the whole information about each and every customer so that traditional file system would be said bye bye. Salient features of advanced EBMMS The bills are generated at PGVCL office. So no need of manual door to door generation of bill. The computer system of the PGVCL office would be updated with the data of new bills and unit readings of the current month automatically. No need to do it manually. The cheats to the meter would be instantly known to PGVCL office. The electricity connections can be cut or restarted from the PGVCL office. The system helps reducing cost of bill generation, distribution and management. Needs lees managing efforts to maintain the system because the system is fully computerized and fully automated.
