This report is effort to present the aspects related to Enhancement Productive Time Capture and RCA Analysis for Support v1.0 as seen by us viz. our perspective and experience. This report is written with an aim to culminate and most importantly aimed at the different aspects with which the staff approach any problem and solved it with least amount of investment of time, money and resource. This report shall help all those who shall need an insight into company.s functioning and products manufactured/ fabricated/ assembled. It also helps one in knowing depth about company.s managerial affairs as well. This report is precise and short and is aimed at making it as pictorial as possible for better understanding of the concepts discussed.
1.1 Project Definition
Infosys Ltd. gets a lot of business by providing support work to various enterprises in the applications they use to run their business. Infosys provides support for around 150 applications to this company. This support work is mostly carried out by the Infosys in its Mysore Development Centre which is also the Training center of Infosys.
This application is a part of a major project being develop within Infosys Ltd. to improve the support work being done by it. The purpose of this project is to automate the manual work being done in the Infosys, Mysore DC. The main reason for undertaking this project is to automate the Report generation process which was earlier being done in Microsoft Excel manually. Along with report generation, it also allows the user to view data of various applications and also the details of defects which have been raised by the end users.
This application will have two categories of users:
· Administrator
· Simple User
Along with the normal functionalities provided to simple user, Administrator shall have access to some additional functionalities.
· Adding new user
· Adding new Application
· Allotting a new defect raised to an employee to handle it
· Import/Export of data
· Report generation
· Adding new defect details like Status, Category.
A normal user does not have access to any of the special functionalities of the administrator. He can simply view the applications which have been allocated to him to handle the defects and he has the rights to edit certain defect details

Excel report generation is the main functionality which needs to be implemented. This report generation process was earlier done by employees manually and this application will reduce their workload and allow the utilization of human resources in a much better way.
1.2 Scope and Objective of Project
This project basically focusses on the report generation of the defects which are being raised by the end user. Earlier these reports were being generated by employees manually in Microsoft Excel. This allows a lot of wastage of time and human resources. Development of this application will allow better utilization of human resources and it will be highly beneficial to the company. This application will decrease the human effort in unproductive works thereby allowing the human resources to be utilized in some more productive works.
Apart from report generation, this application will allow the users to carry out some other functions at the same place, providing convenience to the users. This application covers all set of users from new employees to team leaders and managers with each having a certain set of functions available at their disposal.
This application allows the administrator to allocate new application to a new user, view and edit details of various applications, add new user, add new application, add new status, add new category along with importing and exporting of data. Working with data and handling it is the major concern in these applications because data is the most important component in any Information Technology company
2. SYSTEM STUDY AND PROBLEM FORMULATION
i) Existing System
In the current scenario, the report generation process is manual with report being generated manually in Microsoft excel. There is an existing application to perform the Application Allocation function but all these are individual functionalities. This results in wastage of a lot of time and human resources. Wastage of human resource is not good for any company as if this same amount of time and energy is spent on performing some other function, it will be a lot more profitable for the organization. This is the major drawback of the system which is prevalent and we intend to change it and modify it for better performance. The new system will be a lot more efficient. Along with the manual work described above, analysis work on the defects raised is also being done. This work is also done manually. A second application will be developed which will do this automate this analysis work also. Again the major thing is that all the applications which are being developed under this project are basically for automation and these will in time save a lot of human effort and help in better utilization of human resources. The existing system is human dependent, slow, outdated and results in wastage of an important resource i.e. the human resource.
ii) Limitations of Existing System
The following limitations exist with the existing system:
1. Reports are being generated but they are being done manually in Microsoft excel which takes a lot of time.
2. Applications exist to perform all the functionalities which are being developed under this project but they are all independent

3. Existing system is very time consuming.
4. It results in wastage of human resource.
iii) Proposed System
The new system being developed will automate all the work which is being done currently manually. In this new application, all the functions being performed separately will be combined under one single application making the work easier of the end user. Along with the existing functionality, a new functionality allowing importing and exporting of data with the database is also proposed. The new application will overcome all limitations of the existing system. It will bring all the different functionalities under one single application making it easier for use. It will have greater efficiency and will be a lot better to use. The new system will have an improved user interface which will allow the users to understand it better and will make it easy to use for them. The most important part of the proposed system is the new functionality of data importing and exporting as this will provide an edge over the existing system and it really is going to be a very useful functionality for the users. The proposed system will have two types of users:
· Administrator
· Simple user
iv) Advantages of Proposed System
· Reports generation process is automated saving a lot of time and human resource.
· All the functionalities are available under the same application making it easier to use.
· The different types of users will get their own set of functionalities only.

vi) Feasibility Study
A Feasibility Study is a test of a system proposal according to its workability impact on organization, ability to meet user needs and effective use of resources. The objective of a feasibility study is not to solve a problem but to acquire a sense of its scope. During the study, the problem definition is crystallized and the aspects of the problem to be included in the system are determined. After the initial investigation of the system that helped to have in-depth study of existing system, understanding its strength and weaknesses and the requirements for the new proposed system.Feasibility studies aim to objectively and rationally uncover the strengths and weaknesses of an existing business or proposed venture, opportunities and threats present in the environment, the resources required to carry through, and ultimately the prospects for success. In its simplest terms, the two criteria to judge feasibility are cost required and value to be attained.
