Evaluation of New Fungicidal Formulations Against Blast (Magnaporthe Grisea), Brown Spot (Helminthosporium Oryzae) and Glume Discolouration in Paddy Under Irrigated Conditions of Kashmir
ABSTRACT
Blast (Magnaporthe grisea),brown spot (Helminthosporium oryzae) and glume discolouration trial was conducted under irrigated ecosystem, the test fungicides were evaluated in a natural infected field at High Mountain Research Station of Field Crops, Khudwani. The susceptible local and popular variety K-448 was sown on 8th May and transplanted on 14th June to find the efficacy of the test fungicidal formulations against these locations specific diseases. Natural infection of leaf blast was observed on 16th July. Four fungicidal sprays were given, two each in July (21st and 31st) and September (13th and 17th). The terminal disease severity of leaf blast, brown spot, neck blast and glume discolouration were taken on 20th July,2nd August, 15th September and 19th September when the severity of these diseases were 17.9%,19%,5% and 20.1% respectively, in the untreated check plots. Grain yield data were recorded after the crop was harvested on 3rd October of the test formulations, Tricyclazole (Dhanteam) and carbendazim (Dhanustin) were found as the best in checking blast, brown spot and glume discolouration and increasing the grain yield significantly.
