Potential of compatibility of pesticides against management of important diseases and pests of apple in different agro-climatic zones of Kashmir
ABSTRACT
The work on assessing the compatibility of some pesticides recommended in spray module 2011 conducted at Shalimar (SKUAST) campus and verified at Chetkak (Kupwara) during active season 2011. The pesticide combinations exhibiting any sort of apparent physical / chemical incompatibility were discarded and effect of compatible chemicals in major diseases and pests were assessed on Red Delicious cultivar of apple. The trees were sprayed at pink bud, petal-fall, fruit-let, fruit Development I and III stages with compatible mixtures and simultaneously observations were recorded. At pre-harvest stage (Shalimar) all the treatments combined or individual applications controlled scab, ALB, ERM and SJS in comparison to check. Triadimefon 25 WP + dimethoate 30 EC had least foliage scab incidence and intensity (1.27%) followed by other treatments. However, fruit scab intensity was least in triadimefon 25 WP + quinalphos 25 EC (0.20%). Similarly San jose scale mortality was high in triadimefon 25 WP + quinalphos 25 EC (76.5%) followed by other treatments. At Chetkak minimum intensity of leaf scab was observed in dithionon 75 WP + dimethote 30 EC (2.0%) and minimum fruit scab and ALB was seen in dithionon 75 WP + quinalphos 25 Ec (2.2 and 2.4%), respectively. Highest ERM mortality of 84.0% was seen in abamectin 1.8 EC (84.0%) and that of SJS in dimethoate (82.0%).
