Abstracts: Project aim at investigation on various alternatives for improving formability of Magnesium alloy AZ31. Magnesium alloy AZ31 will be broadly used in automobiles and aerospace engineering due to its light weight and good material property. Already work was studied by previous student in the our institute in year 2012-2013, till the date using deep drawing test effect of the various factors like blank diameter, blank thickness, co-efficient of friction, parameter on formability critical punch stroke various FLD(formability limit diagram) curve will be generated and reported. As a part of this project we will extend the work to study the effect of blank holding force and punching speed, in light of other parameters such as die radius, punch radius, co- efficient of friction considered previously. Further, it was also reported in literature that layering of high ductility material on such a material may be helpful in improving formability. So in light of that effect of layering of carbon steel material SA36 on magnesium alloy AZ31, on formability will be studied.
