Abstracts: Like ISO 9001, ISO 14001 is a product of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). ISO 14001 is the world's first generic, internationally recognized standard for environmental management. Of the group of ISO 14000 standards, ISO 14001 is the actual standard to which companies get registered. Experts are predicting that the impacts of this dynamic standard will transcend the vast popularity of the world-renowned. This standard, ISO 14001, specifies environmental management system elements applicable to all types of organizations under diverse geographical, cultural and social conditions. There must be demonstrated dedication to establishing and assessing effectiveness of environmental policy, objectives and procedures, and then achieving conformance and demonstrating to others. ISO 14001 measures the conformance of an organization’s Energy Management System (EMS) to the specified requirements. It mainly depends on the methodology of Plan-Do-Check-Act for performing the ISO 14001 in an organization.
