Aim:
To experimentally obtain drain and transfer characteristics of JFET (BFW10) and calculate device parameters such as pinch off voltage, dynamic drain resistance, mutual conductance and amplification factor from observations.
Selection of components and equipment ranges:
Note relevant manufacturer specifications of the device such as IDSS, VP, VDSmax, VGSmax, transfer admittance Yfs from data sheet
Select the range of variation of VGG & VDD.
Limiting drain current ID to be less than IDmax and find R-value, wattage. One can use the relation R= (VDD-VDS)/ID
Select the range of ammeters and voltmeters.
Identify the terminals of JFET; test the device and other components
Use diode as shown in the circuit to avoid forward biasing of gate junction.
