CONGESTION MANAGEMENT
The condition where overloads in transmission lines or transformer occur is called congestion and it occurs only when a fully-loaded line or path cannot accommodate requests or expectations for additional use.
The set of actions taken by the system operator(SO) to relieve congestion are referred to as Congestion Management.
WILLINGNESS TO PAY
It is a factor considered to reduce the amount of load curtailed.
It means that the consumer can afford huge amount in order to avoid curtailment.
Willingness to pay has a nonlinear relation with the curtailment. More the willingness to pay, the less the curtailment.
DEMAND RESPONSE PROGRAM
It can be defined as the changes in electricity usage by customers from their normal consumption patterns in response to changes in the price of electricity over time.
It can also be defined as the incentive payments designed to induce lower electricity use.
Emergency Demand Response Program
The Emergency Demand Response Program (EDRP) is a short-notice program that provides payments to electric customers who reduce load during specific times when electric availability could be jeopardized.
During these events, participants are expected, though not obligated, to either reduce energy consumption or transfer load to a qualifying on-site generator for a minimum number of hours.
