As you are aware, technical and job-related skills are a must but these are
NOT sufficient for moving up the ladder in the modern corporates. In the
modern world, all managers expect the members of their teams to be
proactive and able to communicate effectively. It is because of these
reasons that development of soft-skills has gained significant importance
in the employability potential of the students. While planning of a project is
necessary, the execution of the project is of equal importance and it is
here that the soft-skills like inter-personal skills, social grace, negotiation
skills, team spirit, behavioural patterns etc come into play.
Frequently, corporates employ professionals for HR skills evaluation of the
prospective employees. One such company is JOBexo Realscreen, which
is owned by one of our alumnus. It provides the service of HR skills
evaluation to corporates. The company has offered its services, free of
cost, for the HR skills evaluation of the interested students. One evaluator
will spend around 4-6 hours time with a batch of 30-50 students on each
day and at the end of the evaluation, it would produce a report on the HR
skills of the students, a copy of which will be distributed to HR
departments of selected corporates and a copy to each of the participating
students for their use. This exercise would also be of help to the
participating students in becoming familiar with the “real look and feel” of
an actual campus hiring day and is also likely to give them a significant
advantage in terms of preparation.
