INTRODUCTION
One of the most important parts of the CI engine is its injection system. Engine performance depends on proper functioning of this injection system, which must supply, meter, inject, and atomize the fuel. Thus it acts as a ”HEART” of the CI engine. In a fuel-injection system, electronically controlled fuel injectors spray measured amounts of fuel into each of the engine’s cylinders where the fuel is burned, powering the engine. Fuel injection has always been the standard fuel-delivery system for diesel engines. The fuel-injection system replaces the carburetor in most new vehicles to provide a more efficient fuel delivery system. All new cars produced today are equipped with fuel injection systems instead of carburetors.
Various kinds of fuel injection systems are used today, which use diesel as the fuel and each has its own peculiarities to compete with. And “COMMAN RAIL DIESEL INJECTION SYSTEM” is one such.
Common rail technology is the future of diesel, both in passenger cars and trucks and buses. DENSO developed world’s first fuel injection system for trucks and began supplying the system to HINTO MOTORS in 1995.Though they were used before in trucks and buses, now many companies like BOSCH, DELPHI DIESELS, DENSO, etc… are utilizing this technology in passenger cars.
Fuel injection system:
This is system in which the fuel from the tank is drawn and it sprayed in the combustion chamber of the engine during the end of the compression stroke.
COMMON - RAIL FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM:
The way in which fuel is injected into the cylinders of diesel vehicles determines their torque, fuel consumption, emissions and noise level. Two factors are key: the fuel pressure as it enters the cylinder, and the shape and number of the injections.
Advantages of turbocharger:
1. Complete combustion of the fuel is carried out, hence very less pollution.
2. Power developed is more.
3. It does not require any extra power from the engine rather than exhaust gases.
4. It minimizes the power lost in generating vacuum.
CONCLUSION:
The advancements in the IC engines and Automobiles is continuing to meet the requirements of the customers and in concern with environmental criteria and manage the resources effectively and in a better way. Also there are newer technologies are used to enhance the engine as well as vehicle performance such as catalytic converters, intercoolers, air deflectors, antilock braking system, aquaplaning, lumbar mechanism etc.
