Management of Chili Wilt
ABSTRACT
Chili is grown commercially over a wide area in district Poonch. Major constraint in chili production in the district has been identified as chili wilt. As high as 80 per cent loss has been observed in the crop due to this disease. An experiment was conducted in Mendhar block of district to evaluate the efficacy of two different chemicals in addition to raised bed technique. Results revealed that only 22 percent incidence was observed on crop cultivated on raised beds and treated with Dithane M-45 with an average yield of 72 quintals per hectare. The treatment gave a B: C ratio of 4.29. However, Raised bed + Bavistin also gave encouraging results with 25 per cent incidence and yield of 71 quintals per hectare thereby giving a net B:C ratio of 4.23. A disease incidence of 65 percent was recorded in control plot wherein crop was raised on flat beds and no chemical treatment was given. An average yield of 31 quintals was recorded in these plots with B:C ratio of 1.90.
