Management of Ring Rust or Aonla Rust caused by Ravenelia emblicae with chemicals
ABSTRACT
Aonla is one of the most important medicinal plant is affected by many diseases. Ring rust or Aonla rust caused by Ravenelia emblicae is one of the most important dry land disease, it
appears as circular or semi-circular, reddish solitary or greagarious spots on leaves from the beginning of August. Generally one or two pustules measuring 10 to 20 mm in diameter appear on infected fruits. In this context an investigation was conducted to diminish aonla rust by chemicals. Field experiments were conducted during the year 2009-2010, 2010-2011at Dryland Research Sub-station Dhiansar. Pooled data revealed that all tested fungicides viz. spraying with Dithane Z -78 at 0.2% at the interval of 7 to 28 days during the months of July to September was highly effective (1.16 PDI, 93.20 percent PDC), followed by Indofil M-45 (mancozeb, 0.3%) applied thrice during September-October (3.20 PDI, 84.76 PDC), Baycor (3.45 PDI, 83.60 PDC and Blitox-50 (Copper Oxychloride 4.20 PDI 80.10 PDC). Improvement in fruit size was also recorded with these fungicides.
